~ moments from this week in August ~

1.  Such intense concentration as he squeezes the lemons for our pancake mixture this morning

2.  Left-over-from-holidays nail polish and his own method for learning left and right

3.  Beautifully stark winter trees

4.  Our train set now runs through Paris

5.  Leek and potato soup, too much butter and new plates from our travels

6.  Little messages of love in the fruit bowl

7.  We're still looming

8.  Not my favourite tree at all but I can't resist a pop of red

9.  More blossom (completely irresistible)

Life's good round here at the moment
Hope it is at your place too.

~ stills - approaching the end of holidays ~

1 and 2.  Boat sheds on the way to Coningham.  Around this corner is a beautiful, family friendly beach - I hadn't visited for years.  Its a gorgeous little beach - and very family friendly - we'll take the kayak down next time.

3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8.  Great day trip to the Apple Shed down near Grove.  We feasted on local cheeses, bread, cured meats and fabulous cherries but forgot to sample the cider - next time!!  Love what they've done there  - lots of fascinating historical items and details - but sadly missed meeting Michelle.  That's 2 good reasons to go back again soon.

9.  Fresh greengages from my mum, postcrossing postcards, poppies and vintage sheet tablecloth making my kitchen happy.

10.  We went to see Australia play England at T20 cricket on Wednesday night.  Fantastic atmosphere and a hilarious conversation on IG about our early cricket crushes (mine was Viv Richards).  We sat here at Bellerive Quay to eat our dinner before the game.  It was a gorgeous evening.

We've got 2 more days of holidays and then the school year with all its structure and routine starts again.  I'm still not ready.

~ stills - the last week of 2013 ~

1.  My Christmas Elves - I had this printed as a card - and I even managed to write and few and send them before Christmas.  Seriously of the 50 shots I took I think this is the only one where they all have their eyes open!

2.  Apparently teeny tiny car magnets (to fit inside those teeny tiny advent calendar boxes) adhere to the side of our table - who knew?

3.  Self seeded poppies growing madly where there should be veggies... maybe next year

4.  Podding peas for lunch - an age old tradition in both our families

5. Santa brought a cricket set.  And yes we were out there bowling to him in our pjs at 7am.

6.  Santa also brought water pistols (inspired?  mad?)  -  they were momentarily abandoned here for dessert

7. Taking the Christmas decorating just a step too far

8.  My Marley and Lockyer star  - I bought us all one this year - lovely new treasures for our tree.

9.  There are always lilies in the garden and in the house for Christmas

We had a relatively quiet (the neighbours may dispute that - we were up at 5am, playing cricket with very noisy appealing by 7am and then there was a LOT of screaming as the water pistol fights amped up during the afternoon) at home with mum and my in-laws.  We started lunching at 1 with prawns and seafood and finally finished with raspberries, pavlova and pudding at about 6pm.  There may have been napping between courses!  It was a lovely, relaxed day.

Tonight we headed down to the Taste of Tasmania with some friends  - fantastic entertainment, classic tempura mushrooms and some lovely Tassie pinot.  The kids sat entranced by the street performers and we chatted.  Now I'm supposed to be packing - we head to the shack tomorrow for a few weeks - my fingers are firmly crossed for sunshine and good tempers.

I'm linking up with Em at the Beetleshack sharing weekly stills - and I'm super happy to learn that the linky will continue in 2014 - sharing and remembering these little moments of our week is a lovely way to tell some of our story.

~ this week (welll some of it) in pictures ~

1.  The anniversary poppies in the afternoon light on the (amazingly clear) table

2,3,4.  School swimming carnival this week - the green team (ours) didn't come last for the first time in our memories - very happy girls.  I didn't see that much of the actual racing (but a huge thanks to my lovely friend for the photos)   - I was at the results table noting arm numbers and times - totally exhausted by the end of the day.

5.  I finally found a home for the postcrossing postcards - and they're filed in order of country - amazing how just a little bit of organising can feel like such a big achievement (or is that just me?).   I love all the stamps - Australian ones are a bit boring at the moment.  Did you know its now $2.60 to post a postcard overseas... I may well be cutting back on the postcard hobby.

6.  At the park today - pirate swinging like crazy girls (but taking care of their little brother too).

7.  He visited the farm school this week - his favourite thing was patting the enormous white rabbit   (but he made me a plasticine sheep...so cute).

8.  There are crab-apple trees bursting in to blossom all around town - so pretty.

I've just about finished my week of solo-parenting - it's been exhausting (and part of the reason I haven't been taking so many shots).    Thankfully the Doc is home from Darwin tonight.

Jack turns 5 this week and is having a party at the gymnastics centre with his whole kinder class - I can feel another busy week coming on!

How's your week looking?

(Linking with Em to share moments from our week).
