~ our joyful moments - week 34 ~

It's flowers again this week (I'm actually surprised this hasn't happened more often).

I did some weeding and found some more grape hyacinths hiding in my garden.

Karin was at her mum' s and caught that magic light just before a storm.

This is week 34 of a 52 week photography project that Karin and I share on our blogs and on IG - #ourjoyfulmoments.

What's giving you joy this week?

~ our joyful moments ... week 33 ~

Cappucino made for me at home by my husband in our new cups - and polka dots - lots of simple joys making me smile this weekend.

Karin has been harvesting from her garden - such a gorgeous array of goodies.

#ourjoyfulmoments is a photography project between Sweden and Australia sharing the little joys of our daily lives.

~ moments from this week in August ~

1.  Such intense concentration as he squeezes the lemons for our pancake mixture this morning

2.  Left-over-from-holidays nail polish and his own method for learning left and right

3.  Beautifully stark winter trees

4.  Our train set now runs through Paris

5.  Leek and potato soup, too much butter and new plates from our travels

6.  Little messages of love in the fruit bowl

7.  We're still looming

8.  Not my favourite tree at all but I can't resist a pop of red

9.  More blossom (completely irresistible)

Life's good round here at the moment
Hope it is at your place too.

~ blossom time ~

The winter chill bites at this time of year.
Frosty mornings, piercing winds.
We tread warily in the mornings for the ground is icy.
We are bundled in layers of puff, wool, scarves and gloves.
I leave an extra five minutes to melt the frost from my windscreen before we leave for school.
We light the fire early in the evening, we gather around it.

But....spring is coming.
Ridiculously pretty blossoms garland the skies.
Singles, doubles, pink, white - speaking the language of hope, anticipation and joy.

~ our joyful moments - week 32 ~

The first grape hyacinths are poking their way through in my garden - I had to collect a few for a small posy.

Karin has celebrated her birthday in style with this beautiful cherry cake she made (and styled so beautifully) this week too.

#ourjoyfulmoments is a photography collaboration for 2014 between Karin and I.  We're sharing the small joys of our week here and on instagram (and this week we're sharing a similar background for our shots too!)

~ our joyful moments - week 31 ~

After a week of sleety rain and biting winds this scene greeted us from our back door over the weekend.  This is quite a heavy snow-fall for Hobart - and coupled with a beautiful clear day it had everyone in town heading for the hills to throw snow-balls.

On the other side of the world Karin is enjoying summery sweet peas.  I must plant some this year - the colours are just divine.

#ourjoyfulmoments is a weekly photography project where Karin and I share the little moments of joy from our weeks on opposite sides of the world.

~ burano (as a cure for winter blues) ~

Today was grey again - its been 50 shades of freezing cold, sleety grey all week.

This afternoon we attended a wake to celebrate the life of a colleague who died suddenly last week - a vibrant, active, healthy, intelligent lady who died far too young.

The stories of war-time atrocities, of terrorism, of disease and famine are everywhere I turn.

My head is fuzzy - full of winter cold and tiredness.

Colours - a whole rainbow in fact - in the form of photos from Burano has been my antidote to the enveloping greyness.

Burano is a 30 minute vaporetto ride across the lagoon in Venice.
An island famous for lace making. And rainbow-hued fishermen's houses.
The variety of paint colours is said to be so the fishermen could easily identify their own houses as they returned home.  Apparently the colours are allocated by the government so that no neighbours share colours.
I love their commitment to their rainbow houses.  To the choice of whimsy and joy.

Surely we all need a little more joy in our lives.

Canary yellow, kermit green, lipstick pink....which would you choose?
