~ kids were here November 2013 ~

I was once told that children see magic because they look for it. As mothers and photographers, we also see magic. Its called “kids were here”.

Kids live here and their stuff lives everywhere - on the shelves, the fruit bowl, the drawers, the floor.
Do they leave pieces of themselves lying here, there and everywhere so I never forget them?
How could I?

Inspired by this collection and this lady.

~ kids were here [October] ~

While we try to teach our children all about life,
Our children teach us what life is all about.
~Angela Schwindt

I'm really not very good at ignoring the mess, at picking up the camera before I pick up the things lying around.

But I'm trying....

Each month I collect images that are tangible proof that my children live here - their treasures, their messes, their creations.. little pieces of them scattered through our house, our garden, our hearts.

My other posts as part of this series are here, here, here and here.
(The original inspiration can be found at kids were here.)

~ garden mood board September/October 2013 ~

I had to race into the garden between squally showers to rescue a few precious flowers for the vases - spring storms are lashing our city and gardens... I feel lucky that there's anything left to show.

Once again, this didn't turn out quite how I had it planned in my mind (I'm not sure why I'm surprised - my photos rarely live up to how my mind thinks they will look).  Does anyone else have that problem?

In the end the floral chaos is a fairly accurate representation of my spring garden though - lots of pinks and blues  - and not much that is very ordered.  Here's last years from the same time of year

How does your garden grow?
I share a garden mood board every month with Asa and Karin

~ seeking order ~

My life has descended into chaos in the last 2 weeks
The government's threat to close our school has completely taken over my life and I'm eating, breathing and not-sleeping school statistics and government speak gobbledygook.
My phone does not stop ringing and every time I turn around my inbox ( all 3 accounts) is overflowing again.  Everyone wants a piece of me (no, it's not all about me - but it feels a bit that way).
I feel overwhelmed and out of control.
It's all I can think about, talk about...
And then I looked at the shots on my camera and there were these;

 ordered....

boxed....

contained....

I like that.
I need more of it.

Maybe in a fortnight.
