~ kids were here - December ~

The kids were here.
Kids who love colouring in and drawing.
A kid who loves to play cars.
Kids who skip and skip and skip some more.
Kids who are getting very excited about Christmas.

Part of a monthly photography project I indulge in...inspired by this collection.

~ kids were here November 2013 ~

I was once told that children see magic because they look for it. As mothers and photographers, we also see magic. Its called “kids were here”.

Kids live here and their stuff lives everywhere - on the shelves, the fruit bowl, the drawers, the floor.
Do they leave pieces of themselves lying here, there and everywhere so I never forget them?
How could I?

Inspired by this collection and this lady.

~ kids were here [October] ~

While we try to teach our children all about life,
Our children teach us what life is all about.
~Angela Schwindt

I'm really not very good at ignoring the mess, at picking up the camera before I pick up the things lying around.

But I'm trying....

Each month I collect images that are tangible proof that my children live here - their treasures, their messes, their creations.. little pieces of them scattered through our house, our garden, our hearts.

My other posts as part of this series are here, here, here and here.
(The original inspiration can be found at kids were here.)

~ kids were here [September] ~

They're creative, imaginative, playful and fun.

They're also messy, careless, distractable, forgetful.

Our little people, the messes they make, the joy they bring, the love we share - it's what makes this house a home.

Each month I'm trying to remember to take some shots before I begin the endless tidy-up - see the other posts in this series here, here and here.

How's your house looking this week?

ps - the washing machine one is for Tahnee because she saw stars and I got a turtle.

~ kids were here [August] ~

From the minute you reach our front door there is no doubt that kids live here.

This project is about documenting lives with children - and I'm joining in monthly - sharing pictures without my children in them but brimming with evidence that they live and play here.

Art on the walls, the clutter and debris that defines childhood on the floors, soft toys tucked into beds, abandoned food, finished and unfinished projects, precious objects collected and then forgotten, cars and Lego always lurking underfoot.
