~ Friday flowers - pink icebergs ~

I posted some shots on instagram this week of a bunch of roses from my garden and several people seemed amazed we still had roses blooming in winter.

Quite a few of my roses are still hanging in there, mainly because we are a bit slow with the pruning shears I suspect.   The icebergs down the side of the house are still throwing up lots of buds and looking beautifully cheery though.  I brought a bunch in today and went crazy with the camera.  Interestingly, the blushing pink iceberg, is a Tassie variant - it makes a pretty variation on the plain white ones we have lining our front fence.

Hope you have a lovely weekend - we have several birthday parties, soccer and hockey - busy and fun times.  I'm also hoping to finish reading The Great Gatsby.  I saw the film last night for a school fundraiser and whilst amazed at the gorgeous costuming and lavish sets I felt it lacked an emotional connection with the audience.  I can't remember if the characters in the book felt so distant.  Have you seen the film/read the book recently?  What did you think?

~ just because ~

... yesterday I bought a beautiful bunch of them at the farmer's market.
... I miss doing wordless floral posts
... I've been madly trying to instil some sort of order into my photo library
... I just love them so

~ moments ~

Noticing that the sun has bleached the poppies and taking a moment to find the camera and record the fleeting beauty.

Wrapping my arms around that little boy and holding on extra tight, extra long when he demands yet another "cuttle".

Picking a handful of raspberries and eating them, still with the warmth from the sun in them right there and then.

Consciously pulling my shoulders down and taking those deep belly breaths before I tackle another task.

Really listening to another story of who-did-what-to-who-and-what-they-said-next in the afternoons.

Sipping that peppermint tea just a little more slowly.

These moments are helping with my sanity this week.
How are you faring?

~ classy camellias ~

More flowers this week for mostly macro Monday.
It's another (!) of my favourite flowers this week - the camellia. ( I sound like Jack - he has new favourites every day).
We've got a couple growing in our garden - they're still very young and not blooming profusely yet. I think they're all pink - I'd love a pure white one some day.

It's still really chilly and bleak here.
We managed a walk along the beach today to collect shells but otherwise we're hibernating - baking, crafting and overdosing on TV.  Mostly old copies of "Round the Twist" which the girls are finding hilarious - do you remember it?

Back in the realms of wordlessness with more beautiful flowers.
Happy wordless Wednesday.
