~ our joyful moments - outdoors ~

Our theme word for July was "outdoors" and our little family spent a great deal of the month outside walking, exploring, playing soccer and gardening.

The first photo is from Dove Lake at the Cradle Mountain National Park.  We spent a few days there in the school holidays and managed a couple of great walks with the kids through some spectacular and icy wilderness (I promise I will share more photos soon!)

The remaining photos are from our garden and the blossoms from the house opposite. The first signs of spring are always so joyous - its the time I fall in love with my camera again (and then don't know what to do with the hundreds of blossom shots).

#ourjoyfulmoments is a photography project with a monthly theme in 2015.  Karin and I share our photos weekly on Instagram and much more haphazardly here.

~ our joyful moments 2015 - weeks 22-25 ~

I'm managing to journal every day (in my 365 diary and doing the life:captured promtpts).  I'm writing post cards most days.  I post on IG (mini blogging) at least once a day ... no wonder I'm struggling to find time to compose/compile real blog posts.

Karin and I chose books as our theme for June - lovely subject matter.

The top photo was my current (that week) reading pile in the bedroom.  I really love Kate Atkinson's turn of phrase.

Next was a flat-lay vignette style shot of my favourite book from last year that I'm currently re-reading  (its fabulous but devastating).

My next shot was my grandmother's recipe book - we were searching for her coconut and raspberry slice recipe.  Its such a lovely keepsake to have - splattered with butter, annotated in parts, little notes stuck in).

This week I found these lovely versions of some of my childhood favourite reads - they're such lovely editions.  I remember reading and acting out bits of the Secret Garden over and over again with a friend.  The water colour is by Meredith Gaston - check her out here.

What are you reading? I'd love to know.

~ our joyful moments - week 20/21 ~

Two shots from my bedroom for weeks 20 and 21 of #ourjoyfulmoments2015 - the first is a little table in the window that is currently housing my vintage typewriter - I was sitting writing some little random postcards here the other day - my Mother's Day hyacinth was still looking good.

The second (pink) shot is my bedside table - I found a few more Cecile Brunner roses in the tangle that is our winter garden and brought them inside - they are my very favourites.

The last collage is of Karin's shots for the whole month of our on the table theme - can you guess she's loving spring?!!!

June's theme is books - another favourite thing - can't wait to show you what I'm reading and loving.

~ our joyful moments - weeks 18/19 ~

These are my photos for the first two week's of May's theme of #onthtable for #ourjoyfulmoments2015... I hadn't realised how similar they were until I saw them like this!

Week 18 saw me reading snail mail in the sunshine - with my usual paraphenalia around - glasses, keys, pens, flowers.

Week 19 features some beautiful snail mail from Scotland as part of a literary themed swap.  Rhiannon sent me the gorgeous Hogwart's express card and a fabulous letter - the Harry books are right at the top of my favourite books to read over and over again.

Karin and I take a photo each week with a monthly theme.  You can see her beautiful shots over here.

I'll try and take a shot without milo in it this week!

Do you read books over and over?  Which ones?

~ our joyful moments - week 17 ~

I had chosen a shot from earlier in the week for my photo this week and then tonight I found this shot of Jack counting the ducks at the Botanical Gardens on Saturday and just had to use this one.  We'd gone looking for autumn colour - and despite the myriad of greens in this shot there were lots of stunning autumn trees further down in the gardens.

Karin found these pretty wooden anemones which are all through the forests in Sweden at the moment.

#ourjoyfulmoments2015 is a weekly photography project - our theme for April was green.

~ ourjoyful moments - weeks 15/16 ~

Lots of lovely greens for #ourjoyfulmoments2015 this fortnight.

We found some (old favourite) pear sculptures on the sculpture trail last week (that's my family all bokeh'd in the background)

This week I took my peppermint tea outside (in an old favourite cup) and was surrounded by greens (and chilly air).

Karin is revelling in the lovely spring weather.  She's been planting out tomatoes and visiting the Botanical gardens.

This project is all about capturing the small joys of our everydays and sharing them with you - please suggest a theme for the next few months if there's something you'd like to see.

- our joyful moments - weeks 12, 13 and 14 ~

I have no excuses - just good intentions to be more regular with these posts from now on.

Weeks 12 and 13 were still with the morning theme - my shots are Kunanyi (Mt Wellington) from our kitchen window and then my favourite Peacock jetty on a misty morning on the school commute
(I stop regularly and take shots of this - I'm sure the other drivers think I'm crazy).

Karin's shots are of one of her favourite cafes and her (always) pretty breakfast!.

Our theme for April is green.

My shot is the Easter egg carton surprise I made up for Jack with chocolates, a chick and some tiny magnets (the heart) - the girls got pink ones.

Karin is seeing the early signs of spring - so pretty!

I'll be back with more green shots next week.

~ our joyful moments - weeks 10/11 ~

The kitchen and food are certainly dominating our "mornings" themed shots.

Week 10 saw us making lots of watermelon juice - with a hint of mint its a great way to start the day.
Karin was enjoying the morning light in her kitchen and looking forward to those magnolias being in flower

Week 11 and we both chose weekend breakfast shots to share.  Lily often makes us pancakes on a Sunday morning - and with fresh blueberries from the Huon they are hard to resist.
Karin loves her waffles (so pretty) with organic strawberries.

#ourjoyfulmoments2015 is a weekly photography project - Karin and I share our photos here and on IG.

What's your favourite weekend breakfast?

~ ourjoyful moments - week 9/52 ~

Morning tea preparations at our house with a tablecloth, the fancy china and my new roses.  We had such a fun day hosting people.

Karin made chia pudding which I've never tried - but I will soon.

March's theme is mornings and we'll be sharing what they look like here and on IG.

What was your morning like today?

~ our joyful moments - weeks 7 & 8/52 ~

Week 7 saw both Karin and I in the kitchen - she made delicious looking brownies and the kids and I made valentines biscuits and iced them ... we didn't find out til too late that only Jack likes fondant icing!

During week 8 I enjoyed the view from my bedroom with lots of my favourite things - the chair, the cushion (perfect for this month's theme), flowers and my vintage typewriter.  Karin went into the snow to watch some skiing.

#ourjoyfulmoments celebrates the little things that bring us joy each week.  We share them here and on IG.

We still haven't decided on a theme for next month...any suggestions?

~ our joyful moments - week 6/52 ~

This week our family travelled north for a garden party to say farewell to my in-laws property (they have bought a smaller house nearby).  We had a gorgeous day chatting, eating and playing cricket on the lawns with people we love.  This was the table before we all arrived.

Karin has been cooking again  - blueberry waffles - they look so good!

Our theme for February is Love - these photos form part of a 52 week project called #ourjoyfulmoments2015 - you can see the pictures here or on IG.

~ our joyful moments - week 4/52 ~

The last week of our nature themed photos

I chose some dahlias at the farmer's market and set them on our kitchen table - I love having flowers inside - makes the mess and chaos more bearable!

Karin went walking by the sea  - it almost looks like snow!

#ourjoyfulmoments2015 is a weekly photography project shared here and on IG (although Karin's webiste is being upgraded)

What's bringing you joy this week?

~ our joyful moments - week 2/52 ~

We both chose stormy days this week.

I try and walk along the beach most mornings when we're on holidays. This was early before a big thunderstorm later in the day. The pier burnt down 80 years ago...it's very photogenic.

Karin ventured outside on what looks like a very bleak day ... brave lady!

#ourjoyfulmoments2015 is a weekly photography project between Karin and I. Our January photographs are all nature themed.

What's your joy this week?
