~ Australia Day ~

I feel very fortunate to have been born and brought up in this amazing country.

I like to think we can be better in the future - more welcoming of new arrivals, more accepting of difference, more sensitive to our past.

I want to see the day we celebrate what is great about Australia changed so that all Australians can join the celebration.

We'll be heading out for a bbq and a swim later when the Doc is home from work.  We'll get out those shorts and the Aussie beach ball - but not the tatts - they took waaaay too long to come off last year.

Are you celebrating today?
What does Australia day mean to you?

  2. I feel so grateful to be an Australian, to have a beautiful country to live in. We're not perfect but I think we're mostly a pretty good bunch:) We stayed home, hubby watched the cricket, I did some gardening and we had lamb for dinner. I hope you enjoyed celebrating Australia day today. xx

  3. You sound like you had the perfect Australia day.I must agree the beach and a bbq with friends must be what comes to my mind.Sadly this year, with the bad weather, all community events have been cancelled so we just had a quiet day home...Oh no we found an eastern brown snake at the garage door (also very Australian kind of thing for me!I will never get used to them!)...(Thanks goodness the dog survived or it would have been a very sad one!)

  4. Fantastic photos Ally and lovely Australia Day post. I agree.
We were invited to a BBQ with the neighbours. We've got a bit of a Ramsay Street thing happening without Mrs Mangle :)

  5. I just found this post and I just wanted to say I agree whole heartedly with your message that we will be better in the future...I tried to say much the same thing in my Australia Day post, but my message got a little lost....
